Golf in Bulgaria
Published on: 02/08/2007 As the property market has matured in Bulgariaover the last couple of years it was only natural that, following the
‘Spanish’ model, golf courses would become the next big thing. It would
appear this is now the case!
Golf in Bulgaria has historically been serviced
by just three existing courses. Two of these are owned by Air Sofia and
located at Ihtiman (close to Sofia) and asomewhat newer course at Sliven near the Black Sea coast.
There have been recent press reports about
additional golf courses that are proposed for Bulgaria. One of these is
at Razgrad in the North East of the country with others scheduled for
Kavarna on the Northern Black Sea coast and at Primorsko near Sozopol.
In and around the Bulgarian ski resorts are two
further proposed golf courses. One in the major ski resort of Bansko
and a large proposed development at Dolna Banya (located between
Kostenets and the Borovets ski resort) scheduled for completion in 2007.
So, for those with an interest in investment
opportunities or if you are simply a keen golfer…keep an eye on
developments. Certainly, Bulgaria as a country has the variety of
scenery and locations for golf in Bulgaria to become ‘the next big
thing’!
