Kavarna

Published on: 27/10/2006 Kavarna is a town located in the south part of the Dobrudja Plateau, in the north part of Bulgarian Black sea coast. It is 64 km. away from Varna and 49 km. away from Dobrich, on the main road E79. The population is about 128 550 people. There is a small yachting port, fishing base, vast beach and a complex, near the bay, formed by the tiny river called with the charming name “The valley of the orioles”.  
 The limestone rocks and the whole beach are quite picturesque, especially viewed from the sea.

The municipality of Kavarna obtains great natural potential, which helps for the development perspectives. It is located in the most east part of the Danube Plain, in the Dobrudja Seaside coast. The relief is flat. Over 75% of the territory is occupied by agricultural lands.
 The picturesque coast of Kavarna is 42 km. The common area of its beaches is 74 000 sq.m.
 There are a great variety of underground mineral sources -  natural gas, black and stone coals.
  Main economical brands are agriculture, tourism food processing industry.
  The municipality also develops the ecological stock breeding and agriculture, as well as the fruit growing and viticulture, clam cultivation and construction of wind power stations.   
   The potential for developing a modern sea-vocational tourism of Kavarna Municipality is enormous: there are good conditions for combinations with cultural, hunting and village ecotourism. The construction of the nowadays infrastructure and the development of alternative forms of tourism attract the interest of the investors to the tourist brand.
   The efficient use of the local natural goods creates opportunities for production of perfect production, mostly in the brand of ecological agriculture and food, wine and tobacco industries. These opportunities are a condition to attract new partners, creditors and investors.
 Kavarna Municipality has rich cultural and historical heritage. At the sea shore is the almost unreachable Cape Chirakman. On its flat plateau rise up the ruins of the fortress walls, buildings, churches and necropolis. There are interesting caves in the food of Chirakam, in which are found signs of living from the Epoch of the Neolith.
 Cape Kaliakra is one of the symbols of the Bulgarian north coast. This place is famous both with its history and wild nature kept through the centuries. “Kaliakra” is the one Bulgarian Reserve, with a sea aquatory – a line of sea 500m. width and 8 km. long. The area of the reserve is 687 050 sq.m. and except steppe territories it includes also amazing costal caves, some of them about 70 m. high.
