Saeva Dupka cave
Published on: 02/02/2007
The Saeva Dupka cave is situated 11 km west of Yablanitsa and 2 km south of the Brestnitsa village,
on the highways Sofia - Varna.
Saeva dupka is around 3.5 million years old. It’s called the underground pearl, because it’s one of the most
beautiful caves in Bulgaria.
First is the "Antechamber"; in this place have been discovered clay containers, fireplace, animal bones, and
coins from the time of Emperor Anthony. Next is the first cave hall - Kupena, called after the 3.5 m high cascade
stalagmite, and resembling a haystack. In the second hall called Srutishteto, there are huge rocks with more than
3 m of height. Here is the Stalaktones called "the Fat Bertha", because of bearing a resemblance to a gun.
In "Srutishteto" is also the so- called "Organ", emitting separate tones when touching the different parts of it.
The third hall is called Harmana (The stack – yard), featuring red sparkling rocks. The acoustics are wonderful
and it has been used as a recording studio. Northwest of the third hall are situated another two magnificent
halls- "the White castle" and "the Cosmos".
The cave is lighted, safeguarded; there are high quality guides, knowing each fantastic form in the cave.
